Candle

Poetry Jam

Light a Candle

A new year,
a new light.
Today's candle uses yesterdays wick.
Tomorrow will burn from what you lit today
so
carry a 24/7 light in your heart

Thoughts, words and steps
from
all the past today's
Help you light the candle that you light
right now,
tonight

We can not change the past
I do not want to change the past
I need it to support
the candle
in
my heart

  1. I do like the idea that today's candle support's yesterday's wick....and also that the past supports the present candle in your heart.

(The link you placed in Poetry Jam was incorrect. I fixed it for you this morning.)

  2. true our past is important and all goes in to making our candle, i think the key is keeping the candle moving forward and not gettting stuck in the past...

  4. A good message. Our past can't be discounted but we must not live in it either.

    1. Past.. even if we did not like it then is support for what we do now. We learn from all things and then move ahead with light and joy !

  5. 24/7 light is a nice thought.
Probably safer to have a low energy bulb than a candle :-) We are spoilt these days to have a choice. I wouldn't like to have to make do with a taper.

    1. I do not know how I can do something right one time and wrong the next....but I do that with spelling so probably other things too. Very busy at my home now with grand kids here for a month so no time to think. Can I use that for an excuse?? LOL

    2. Hard to explain exactly what you did wrong. But you need to click on the exact poem...then copy and paste what you see in the browser line. I would not have been able to fix it had I not gone back to earlier poetry jam links that worked and gone into your blog and located the poem you wanted to use and switched the link. After you post your link, you might consider testing it yourself; as I know this has happened to you a time or two before.

  7. I like the idea of always carrying the light in your heart. You are right about the past and present feeding the future.

    1. The center part "the wick" is what is with you from the beginning to the end so we use today what we counted on the days before to keep the light burning. The candle is a great "life example" when you think about it.
