Serendipity

Poetry Jam
How do you feel?

Serendipity

Strong as the oldest tree
Light as a passing cloud
Joyful as a small bird's song
Thoughtful as the morning dew

Colorful as a as a sunbeam
Colorless as a stream
Alone as a pasture tree
Connected as the forest floor in spring

A morning walk along the woodland river
my camera companion holds my hand,
bringing peace and wondering to my mind
as the soft ground flexes under my feet.

Time has past since I walked here last
my memory is the friend that holds my mind,
bringing peace and joy to my thoughts
as the camera catches the spring light.

The sun will set and rise again,
before the trees all grow as planned.
Youthful memories do not fade
as new ones are added
to the ever increasing
photo book of lifetime
joy grown here.

    1. Yes it is dew and I made the change thanks! It took me a bit to do any posting on line and one reason was that I might type something wrong and spell check not find it (as in dew) but...A friend got me started on the blog idea and I have learned that my editing ability will get better. I tend to read what I think I typed and not what is actually there. (OK hope that this is OK with no spell check LOL)

    1. Thank you. Serendipity is a feeling and a great word that I love too. It is also the name of the farm where I spent many family holidays over the years and where I was walking to have time with old trees and spring flowers.

  3. I absolutely loved the last five lines of your poem. Taking photographs definitely preserves memories, doesn't it? Thanks for participating in Poetry Jam. Sometimes you have posted links that lead nowhere, and it is impossible to visit or comment. This time you have got it right!! Always check your own link after you post to be on the safe side.

Oh, and here's mine for Poetry Jam:

    1. I must make posts late at night and miss a step once in a while. I hope I can always get it right. Thanks so much for telling me to check, I will do that from now on.

  4. It does look like spring is breaking through in your part of the world! I like your stroll with a camera poem and the tangible images of feelings. I also love going around with a camera -- I think it makes me look at things differently, makes me more observant or something. Enjoy the spring ahead and thanks for responding to my prompt.

    1. The best camera is your eyes but I take photos because I use them for painting references later. As an artist, photography is something I love to do.

  5. Serendipity is also the name of the family farm where I took my morning walk. It just fit the poetry prompt I found as I came back with the photos...perfect

  6. I love the quiet joy in this. My husband and I are picture takers too - it's so much fun to see what the camera saw that our eyes may have missed.

    1. We all tend to walk fast, drive fast, think fast, and miss to much that way.
