Gifts
Anticipation
In
the eyes of children
as
they see
all
the gifts
wrapped
under
the tree
In
the eyes of parents
as
they see
all
the children
growing
in
their care
In
the eyes of lovers
as
they see
all
the potential
awaiting
with
a touch
In
the eyes of grandparents
as
they see
so
many years
passed
building
the memories
In
the eyes of God
as He sees
Lovers,
Parents, Children, Grandparents
living
in
his grace
Anticipation
IS the gift
The
gift is IN the eyes
because
We
can not see what is ahead
The
gift is IN the anticipation
because
of
touch
from
person to person
from
heart to heart
from
eye to eye
because
of
love
from
adult to child
from
person to person
from
man to woman
from
God and above
MERRY
CHRISTMAS
from
me to you
I
give you love
Anticipation is indeed a wonderful gift. I would not want to experience life without anticipation, and cannot imagine how empty it would be without something to look forward to. I liked very much all of the examples you gave. (And Merry Christmas to YOU, too!)
ReplyDeletelove is what it is all about
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas...
ReplyDeleteGod and His Love for us
God and his generous gifts to us
All the good things that you have mentioned stem from that.
Beautiful poem. You are right about where we should be directing our love, and to whom. We should be giving in our everyday and your poem suggests this to me.
ReplyDeleteGiving and receiving are beautifully expressed and the joy of that love comes through your words.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem and you have used natural pearls to string them to form this verse.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, Rae Ann ~~ your poem is lovely and heartfelt.
ReplyDeletePowerful message, Rae Ann. We must keep our eyes on what's in front of us.
ReplyDeleteanticipation is the season as well...now into advent...and the hope that it is...when the light pushes back the dark...and how it will come again...smiles.
ReplyDeleteSo much anticipation this time of the year! I like the vision you created here of a holiday with so different generations together all seeing the good before them!
ReplyDelete:God" the essence of all.
ReplyDeleteperfect images used to express anticipation as gift...
ReplyDeletegiving is a lot more fun than receiving!
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts here. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRae, I do hope you will find time this weekend to comment on the poems (at least) of those who have commented on yours. Speaking for myself, and I know others, each of us appreciates the gift of comments from others. Hope you are having a happy holiday. (I also made a comment to you in the 'comments' below the poetry jam prompt, if you visit the site.) Each of us is indeed a gift!
ReplyDeleteHi Rae! What a beautiful poem-really enjoyed all your perspectives--the holidays do change depending on where you are in time. I miss having small children to feel that magic and anticipation that they carry from Dec. 1 :-) Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem and a timely reminder about the true spirit of Christmas.
