Leaves Dance
A
Special time
when leaves turn.
They dance
with the movement
of the wind.
Red and yellow
with a memory of green.
Brown with a promise
of green.
As the weather takes on
the chill of Autumn leaves know
they have a glow of the
past and a hope for the future
somehow wrapped in the
memory
of the pattern of nature.
There is no question
they just dance
float
and
fall
to
the
air
and
fly
free
and
land on a cold ground
to
the
delight
those
of
us
who
love
October
and
watch it up close
loved the poem and the pics complimented it.

DeleteI like 'glow of the past and hope for the future.' Really like the way you worked SHAPE into your poem as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem Rae, and it brings the feeling of fall in to my day! Like you tent shot too....
ReplyDeleteWell what can I say it is so great to have the opportunity to bike and camp in the Sept and October time of the year
Deletecool concrete poem....i love autumn personally...the last blast of beauty befor the long sleep....caught in between birth and death....
ReplyDeleteThis is a year of birth I guess as I have moved to a totally new place. So I can now probably hang my bike for the winter, walk in the leaves for exercise, continue emptying boxes and reorganizing life here, and now have time to" think and respond" as I type here.
DeleteI enjoy the way you make us look at the leaves, the promises and the glow of the past as well as the beautiful colors. I like the photos too!
ReplyDeleteLove this. there is a lightness and freshness that just floats and entices me from the page. Magical
ReplyDeleteand crumble beneath our feet ... I love that smell too. But first, the glorious color and the fun of holding them in our hands! Nice concrete image. :)
